This amazing group of young people were trained by Tamara (Grove) Williams the outstanding Choir Director:
The Choral-Aires rewarded our members and guests with two very inspirational songs:
“Walk on This Road” The Choir consisted of 18 members and four (4) of them were soloists.
It was a very heart-moving rendition of a Gospel-like song.
The above was followed by “ O’Toole, a beautiful harmony.
Almost like attending two different events, we were treated to “The World Will Know”
they dressed as “Newsboys (& girls) similar to Disney’s, Broadway Musical “Newsies”. With the performers chanting a rousing, loud animated demonstration inspired by a “Strike” due to raising news-paper costs.
Choir Director Tamara Williams did an outstanding job in making this Rotary meeting a joyful event.
The Choral-Aires will be going to Europe on a good-will tour and will perform in Italy, Rome, the Vatican, Venice, and Padua.
These students need your help. They each have to raise $3,400 for their trip.
For the past 10 years, Rotary has fielded a team of around 100 riders to raise money to eradicate polio during a road ride called the Tour de Tucson. Over the years these Rotary riders have raised (with the match from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) over $45 Million. Last year alone they raised $10 Million. This kind of money provides enough health workers, training and vaccine to immunize three-million children, building a robust fire-wall in over 36 at-risk countries. By denying the polio virus a human host, the virus will die in the wild.
Certification of eradication requires zero new cases for three consecutive years. This can be done. It will cost $1.5 billion. Nations and organizations have pledged $900 million. Rotary, with the Gates Foundation, pledged an additional $450 Million. Now we must make good on these pledges.
I will be a member of the Rotary Riding Team this year. Our goal is to raise $10.4 Million, including the Gates Foundation match. I have personally given $100 towards my pledge of $2,000. I am asking my fellow Traverse City Rotarians for a similar donation which, thanks to the Gates Foundation match, will actually be $300; enough to immunize 100 children.
You have been wonderfully generous in the past when I have asked for your help. Several of you have already donated and I thank you for that. Please join me in supporting this cause. The need to eradicate polio is real and success is just around the corner. Eradication, however, is not possible without funds to get the job done.

Get into your closet and clean it out. We need Coats, Hats, Gloves, Sweaters, and Sweat Shirts for adults and children. Go to your businesses and ask fellow employees to get them to get you their unused Winter items and bring them into Rotary on November 13th and 20th
In 1999, Rotary Charities donated $2.5 million to the Community Foundation to establish the Rotary Endowment. The Endowment connects the shared work of Rotary Charities and the Community Foundation of promoting philanthropy to enrich the quality of life in our region. Today, the Rotary Endowment provides an opportunity for individual Rotarians and local Rotary Clubs to have their philanthropic support matched by the Community Foundation.
The partnership between the Community Foundation and Rotary Charities is reflective of the quality of philanthropic intent and integrity that makes this a wonderful place to live, work, and give.

The purpose of this correspondence is to announce our trip to India to participate in the late January/early February 2019 polio National Immunization Days (NID) activities. This trip offers you and the Rotarians in your club and District an extraordinary opportunity to have an experience of a lifetime. In 2015, India was declared polio-free. In past years, India would organize three or four NID dates. However, in 2019, there is only one NID program. Therefore, we expect this may be one of the last opportunities you will have to join a trip to India to participate in polio NID activities.
The following summarizes the key trip information:
Our program will travel to Delhi, India, where we will participate in the polio NID activities and attend other related Rotary events. This trip also includes travel to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, and Jaipur to visit the famous Rotary Jaipur Limb factory, and enjoy this extraordinary city.
Date of Departure: Friday, January 25, 2019
Date of Return: Tuesday, February 5, 2019
Per Person Cost, based on double occupancy: $2,499. This price does not include international, roundtrip airfare or Indian visa fees. However, it does include hotels, transfers, Rotary events, participation in the NID activities, most meals, sightseeing, English speaking guide and other items as stated in the attached document. Participants are free to secure their own air reservations using their frequent flyer mileage, or individual purchase. Howard Tours will be happy to help you purchase airline tickets, which can be requested on the trip application.
This group will be limited to approximately 35 people, and confirmation in the program will be on a first come, first served basis. To join us, please complete and sign the application on page five of the attached document. If you, or people from your club are going to join us, we suggest immediate action. Over the last two years, this program sold out in less than two weeks.
