As soon as suitable alternative arrangements can be made, The Rotary Club of Traverse City will relocate our weekly to a new location.
Two weeks ago, we were informed that we are not allowed to park in the hotel parking lot and that it has always been this way. I checked with many of our past leaders of the club and none of them were aware of such a policy.
We are being told that the parking lot is for overnight guests only and accommodating them is the hotel’s priority. I was informed that we can park in the parking lot only if the hotel’s overnight occupancy isn’t high. We would be notified on a weekly basis.
When I spoke with the Park Place General Manager, we covered a lot of ground including;
- our long history and that fact that we helped keep this hotel open
- how they just raised out lunch rates $2 to accommodate their demand
- our meeting is only from 11:45-1:15 between check in and check out time at the hotel
- many area leaders that are members of our club hotel meetings outside of our weekly Rotary meetings at the Park Place

All of this discussion was to no avail.
After a long conversation last night at the board meeting, a unanimous vote was taken to move our meeting. Given a wide age and mobility range of our club, the board decided the ability park close to our venue is important.
I have been working with area properties that would love to have us, to find the best location. We notify you once a location has been finalized.
