Meeting Recap - December 20th
Homer Nye shared his very thoughtful gratitude and reflection, reminding us that everyone is fragile and should be handled with care.
Lisa Brady bounced up to introduce Rotarians and their guests.
We welcomed 3 new amazing members to our Club. Jayne Mohr sponsored Lisa Migazzi and Cristal Anderson, and Robert Hentschel sponsored David Hamm. Welcome to Rotary!
Al Bonney led Happy Bucks and the holiday cheer. Our happiness was further stoked by Steve Wade showing us the impact this year's Christmas Basket program was able to achieve: A total of $11,600 worth of gifts, 51 families were referred, and 2018 people and children were taken care of for Christmas.
Our intro to Rotary program will be starting back up again, shared John Noonan. New members should keep a look out for the schedule.
Club Secretary Connor Miller celebrated our members with perfect attendance with Don Breadon at the top with 48 years of continued service. If you're active in the club with committees and events, let Sonya know because they do count towards your attendance, not just meetings.
Michael Caruso took us back in time to learn about the 4-way test and how it's made significant benefits to Rotarians' success. We didn't have all of our Paul Harris Fellows present but he took the time to recognize their financial contribution to the cause of Rotary.
President Marlene gave the tables some time to chat about their personal "Rotary Moment" which brought back lots of wonderful experiences and the true meaning of service above self.
The 50/50 winning sum was $54 and went home with Amanda Scott.
We ended the meeting with Alan Long's Bo Diddley We Are Strong in Rotary.
Rotary Charities will host an event on Thursday, January 26th at the City Opera House for a special evening spotlighting three local grantee initiatives that have been taking a systems change approach and making significant progress on the challenges of youth homelessness, food insecurity, and health disparities.
Several volunteers are needed to help with the event, including checking people in at the door and "running" microphones during the audience Q&A portion of the evening.
Your service will count towards our club's goal of 1000 hours. Email Miriam at mowsley@rotarycharities.org to sign up.
Need a winter activity to enjoy? Join with 10 Rotarians to rotate and form a Rotary Curling Team for the League set to start in mid-January. Please contact Marlene Bevan to join the curling crew!
If you would like to be involved during weekly meetings, we are looking for a group of 5-10 Rotarians to alternate Introducing Visiting Rotarians and Rotarians' guests at the meeting. It's a great way to practice some public speaking so please reach out to admin@traversecityrotary.org.
