Rotary Club of Traverse City Meeting – January 22, 2019

It’s going to be a $100,000 Ad Sales Season! – compiled by Ramona

President Awesome called the meeting to order with God Bless America and The Pledge of Allegiance.

Ramona Pleva added some humor to the Gratitude and Reflection today and the people of Rotary responded with “Whoop, whoop”. (No, seriously they did because I told them to!)

Ramona followed that up with the Rotary Show Ad Sales theme song – a redone parody of Queen’s We Will Rock You. Max Anderson was the hairy face winner of that song but we also shared evidence of Al Zelinski kissing Vern Gauthier. (If you missed that, I’m sorry! But what can we say, sometimes juicy stuff happens at the Rotary Show and we need to milk it for all its worth!)

Chris DeGood welcomed our Rotarians with guests.

John Roddy introduced Eve Robitshek, our Student of the Week from Interlochen. Eve is an accomplished student with aspirations of going into film. She is the daughter of our Andy Robitshek and has participated in many Rotary activities with her dad. Congratulations Eve, we enjoyed getting to know you!

President Awesome announced that the bylaw edits have been mailed to each Rotarian and we will be voting on them on Jan. 29th. This meeting will be led by our Youth Exchange Students so don’t miss it!

Nick Beadleston shared that the Rotary Foundation is selling raffle tickets for their annual fund. Tickets are $20 and will be on sale until Feb. 28. There’s a good opportunity to win a hunk of cash. The first-place winner takes 30% of the pot, 2nd place walks away with 20%, 3rd and 4th place get 15% each and 5th and 6th pocket 10% of the prize money. So the more tickets sold, the bigger the pot! Buy your tickets!!

The Four Bottoms had a meeting after the meeting today. If you don’t know who the Four Bottoms are, don’t worry! They know who they are and you’ll find out soon enough who they are whether you want to or not!

Al Bonney announced that his recent polio bike ride with other die-hard End Polio Now Rotarians raised over $5 million! And the 10-year total is over $53 million!

Ken Osborne walked away with $58 in the 50/50 today. We are certain his winnings will go to his birthday celebration tomorrow!!
