Your Chamber!
Max Anderson began his tenure as the Chamber’s Executive Director in January of 2017, after working in the banking and finance fields for several years.

The Chamber is part of a network of entities under the umbrella of ChamberCONNECT. Those entities include the Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Michigan Chamber Alliance, Venture North, 5 to One, the Traverse Connect Development Inc., and a newly formed political action committee. All these entities serve different functions but are all working toward connecting businesses and growing the economy and community in the Traverse City area.

Max shared a few things that surprised him about his new job:

First, he had no idea that he’d receive so much support from the Traverse City community. Business owners and workers from all over town approach him and congratulate him for taking the lead of the region’s primary member-based business association.

He was also surprised by the encouragement and understanding he’d get from the staff. Coming from the private sector, he was somewhat unfamiliar with how business associations and nonprofits work, but his colleagues helped him get up-to-speed and were always right there to help him gain comfort in his new role.

In fact, he was surprised that he would find “his people” so soon. His people are the group of exceptional colleagues and mentors that have helped the Chamber accomplish so much over the past year. Max is really proud of their successes and is excited about what the future will bring.

Don’t forget: The Chamber’s annual celebration week (January 22-26) is coming up. This year, the Chamber’s annual Distinguished Service Award will go to fellow Rotarian, Elaine Wood. The Chamber Annual Celebration is on June 26.
