The Meeting Agenda: This was President Mike Meindertsma’s  1st  Official luncheon meeting and he orchestrated it flawlessly.  Mike opened the meeting with the traditional “God Bless America”, Pledge & Invocation by Homer Nye.

Scott was the Top State Player, winning the Michigan Open Five times! (He was also the instructor & pro at the Grand Traverse Resort, served the public and youth as a trainer and coach, prior to his current position).

Scott spoke to Rotarians about the status of the golf industry.  After several years of declining interest in the sport, Golf is now on the up-swing.  This is due to several innovative ideas and technology that appeals to the Millennials and Women.  The equipment and accessibility of the numerous golf courses has sparked an interest in the game.  Golf pros are using new tech such as electronic ball chips to help players improve their swing and resolve problems such as slicing and distance.

 There is an ongoing campaign to recruit more women and youth to the sport.  The Traverse City area is considered to be the pinnacle of golf in Michigan.  TCG&CC is always a welcome home for new members.

CURRENT CAREER - None anymore though possibly archaeology in Scotland.

 

EDUCATION - Ohio State, B.S. and Masters degrees.

 

FAMILY- Wife Anne at home; son Cooper recently married and living in

Chicago; and daughter Catherine, married and living in New York City.

 

FAVORITE DESSERT - Lemon squares, especially my Mother’s.
