CURRENT CAREER – Retired Presbyterian Pastor
EDUCATION – Ohio University, BA, 1966; Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Masters/Theology, 1970; and Doctor of Ministry, 1980.
FAMILY- Spouse, Rebecca Mang; daughters Mindy and Hannah; step daughters Erin and Ellen; and three grandchildren, Bridget, Estella and Emitri.
FAVORITE DESSERT - Strawberry shortcake with “store bought” dessert shells. Homemade biscuits are acceptable, but not preferred. I think it is the added chemicals in the “store bought” that brings out the flavor.
FAVORITE ACTIVITY - Other than staring into space, I enjoy pickleball, watching the flowers grow and reading
LAST BOOK READ – “The Danish Girl”
FAVORITE MOVIE – Since I very seldom remember the names of movies or movie stars ( Humphrey Bogart I sometimes recognize, but that is about it. There is also an actor named after some bird, but I cannot recall the name at the moment.), I cannot actually say. I am sure I enjoyed it, however.
FAVORITE SONG - Again, while I enjoy many styles of music, I do not remember these things. When I hear it, I know it. When I hear it again, I will ask Becky what it is and report back. Becky remembers every song she has ever heard.
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF NO ONE IN THE CLUB
LIKELY KNOWS – I was a ham radio operator and know morse code. I stopped this when I was in college because without asking me, my mother gave all my equipment to a boy down the street. She said he needed it more than I did. She probably was right.
LIFE ROLE MODEL – Dietrich Bonheoffer
MOST SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENT – The most significant thing anyone can do is to touch another person’s life in a positive way. I have always tried to do that, as a pastor, in my family, in the community and with my friends.
PROUDEST MOMENT - Being one of the founders of Food Rescue.
FUNNIEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU - Being caught skinny dipping in Lake Michigan. It took a few years to be funny, but now it is.
SECRET AMBITION - To be a famous singer, although my song remembering disability could be a problem with that.
IF YOU COULD BE ANYONE IN THE WORLD FOR A DAY (present or historical), WHO WOULD THAT BE---AND WHY? Thomas Edison because he saw failure as a beginning not an end.
MOST FAMOUS PERSON MET - Pope John Paul II
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE - That I cannot imagine a better life.
