MEETING NOTES:
President Dale Chilcote called the meeting to order with a moment of silence for Steve Wade and his family on the passing of Steve’s Mother.

Nikki Sobkowski  led the invocation, and Marsha Minervini led a rousing chorus of Holiday tunes that got everyone right into the spirit. Cecil McNally introduced our visitors and guest and there were many this Tuesday.

Our students of the week came from their respective high schools via the TBAISD Career Tech Center. Introduced by Autumn Soltysiak, Isabel Weathers intends study Early Childhood Education and work in the field of therapeutic day care. Her story was profound and drew a spontaneous standing ovation. Nathan McAllister had a hard act to follow, but handled himself well. He will further his education in Australia where he will study faith-based film studies.

We met two new Rotarians: Bonnie Alfonso, introduced by Allison Beers, and Pat Reay, introduced by Bob Stow. Both are clearly to be excellent additions to our membership. Please say hello and make them welcome in the next few weeks.

The new members of the Board elected are Mark Eckhoff, Tom Haase and Mark Newhouse. John Racine was named President-elect.

ROTARIANS GET COAL IN THEIR STOCKINGS THIS HOLIDAY
John Hall chair of Rotary Camps and Services introduced the program for the day by first acknowledging those members who have spent an inordinate amount of time over the last year and a half working on the purchase of the former Traverse City Light and Power Coal Properties.
This meeting was a chance for us to be heard through the magic of technology, giving immediate feedback and interest tracking. Through a series of questions we were able to help prioritize the focal points to be observed. An interesting process that I am sure will be aggregated and presented for future reference. Bob Stow gave an overview of this community based project and John Noonan was responsible for bringing the technology alive for us to give our impressions.
Hall first introduced Mike Dow acknowledging his generous donation of land that became home to The Discovery Center and helped lead the way to an even greater expansion that will now include this new purchase. By working with Elmwood Township, the Greilickville location will open the area for use by locals and tourists alike making this corridor a valuable addition to our park and recreation system.
As such, Mike Dow was honored with a Paul Harris Fellowship, along with those members of Rotary Camps and Services -  Mike Wills, Rob Lovell, John Noonan and Bob Stow – whose efforts and energy have made this project a reality we can all be very proud of. Congratulations to each of these honored people.
THIS COULD BE THE JOB FOR YOU...

The Rotary Bulletin team is looking for another writer… or two.
The job is simple – once a month or so you take your turn telling fellow Rotarians what happened at the weekly meeting.
A typical roundup story is only 300 to 400 words and takes about 15 minutes to do.
If you’re interested in becoming part of the Rotary Bulletin team, please contact Nick Edson or Kathy Bussell.
