August 1st, 2023
Join the Zoom Meeting HERE

We will be meeting on August 8th at The Great Wolf Lodge. The meeting will be held in the Conference Center which is a separate entrance around the side of the main building. If you enter through the US 31 entrance the center will be right at the top of the hill and if you enter through Franke Rd. you will need to drive around the main building.

The program for the day will be about Safe Passage brought to us by Jacob Wheeler.

Author Jacob Wheeler fell in love with the Central American nation while studying Spanish in Quetzaltenango in the Guatemalan highlands. His first book, Between Light and Shadow (University of Nebraska Press, 2011), covered Guatemala’s child adoption industry.

Wheeler lives in Traverse City, Michigan, with his wife Sarah and children, Nina and Leo. He publishes the Glen Arbor Sun newspaper and works with student journalists at Northwestern Michigan College. His reporting has won awards from Project Censored and the Michigan Press Association. Grant Review Volunteers
It is time again to volunteer to be a Rotary Charities Grant Reviewer and we need you to be a part of funding good work in our region.
Volunteer reviewers:
- receive materials in October after grant applications are due in September
- participate in a 2hr review meeting in October-November
- give a summary at the board meeting in December
If you are interested in participating you can email Kendra Luta at kluta@rotarycharities.org and you will be asked to complete some brief training materials and a conflict of interest statement.
Thank you to Michelle Czerwonka, Kelvin Shaw and John Reid for reaching out with interest after the announcement at the last meeting.
