Meeting recap - September 20th

  • The Discovery Cruise ship bellowed its horn to kick off our meeting as we left the dock, just as the sun was coming back out from behind the clouds.
  • Homer Nye shared his Thoughts of Gratitude and Reflection: practice observation and the awe of wonderfulness.
  • Tom Haase introduced Rotarians with guests and two coincidental travelers.
  • Happy Bucks was led by Dale Chilcote.
  • The Kingsley Trio livened the spirit of everyone on board by singing What'll we do With a Drunken Sailor.
  •  The 50/50 was $42 and was won by David Ford.
  • Voting for the Camps & Services and Charities boards will be taking place on September 27th. President Marlene asked everyone to bring a Rotarian
  • Captain Harley gave a shortened version of his normal narrated tour and during breaks, Rotarians were able to socialize with each other and take in the incredible view of the area from a different point of view.
  • Alan Long led the club in the 4-Way Test and we arrived back at the dock exactly at 1:00 pm. Thanks again to Harley and Tammy Hoy for the amazing space.

Volunteer & Social Opportunities

The annual Circle of Donors Oktoberfest celebration will be held on Thursday, September 29th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
  • The cost is $45 per person and will include local beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • RSVPs are required by September 22nd.

The Cadillac Rotary Club is hosting the 2022 White Pine Ride on October 1. Save the Date!

  • Ride the scenic north end of the White Pine Trail with the Rotary Club of Cadillac & friends. Support the trail and Rotary while having a great time riding with family and friends. There will be a picnic after the ride
  • For more information and registration, please visit the White Pine Ride home page.

The annual Jim Van Memorial Outing is scheduled for Friday, October 7th, 1:00 - 4:00 followed by a campfire.

  • We have a variety of tasks including the planting of apple trees, formalizing a trailhead, removing old tree stand lumber, and blocking a pipeline access to ORVs.
  • Please arrive at the trailhead near the bridge and bring sturdy shoes and gloves. Please call Steve Largent at 231.883.9960 if you have any questions.

Featured Item - Voting on Trustee Positions on the 27th

We did not meet the required quorum on the 13th so it's extremely important for you to attend on the 27th. According to Article III, Section 4b of the Bylaws of Rotary Charities and Rotary Camps & Services of Traverse City the vote requires half of the Rotary Club membership to be in attendance to establish a quorum.

Our average attendance at meetings is only 60 members and we need at least 100 to fulfill the quorum.

Please reach out to your fellow Rotarians and encourage them to attend or sign in to the meeting on the 27th - even if they can only attend for the first portion of each. We need you!
