A Message From RI President Gordon McInally
If you missed it at our last meeting, check out this message from the Rotary International President for 2023-24. Gordon is going to do great work this year to spread the word about destigmatizing mental health issues and about resources that Rotarians can use and share with others. President John Hall even got a picture with Gordon in Australia!
Rotary's Champions Of Inclusion Broadcast Event

President John Hall would like to share with you a video from Rotary's People of Action where they discuss what’s possible when People of Action come together to amplify the power of marginalized populations in our clubs, in our communities, and around the world. The event took place in Cape Town South Africa and features lots of people doing great work in the Rotary and important foundations that support the people of Cape Town.
Want to hear more stories of People of Action? Go to https://www.rotary.org/en/rotary-people-action to access lots of amazing Rotary stories.
Meal Train For Miriam
Our very own Miriam Owsley and her family have welcomed new baby Violet and she is a Rotarian in the making! There is still lots of space to sign up to bring a meal to the family to support them through the first few months, so click the link below for more info.

We are so excited for you Miriam!
Rotary Golf Outing
August 14th Join your fellow Rotarians for a 12:30pm shotgun start at Elmbrook Golf Course. It will be 18 holes with a cart for only $49 per person and dinner will be provided. Teams will be 4 people, but no worries if you're coming solo, we will pair you with some buddies and spouses are welcome. Come out and enjoy a sunny day of fun!

If you would like to sign up or have any questions please contact Dale Chilcote at 231-846-0096 or dale@orchardcreektc.com
Grant Review Volunteers
It is time again to volunteer to be a Rotary Charities Grant Reviewer and we need you to be a part of funding good work in our region.
Volunteer reviewers:
- receive materials in October after grant applications are due in September
- participate in a 2hr review meeting in October-November
- give a summary at the board meeting in December
If you are interested in participating you can email Kendra Luta at kluta@rotarycharities.org and you will be asked to complete some brief training materials and a conflict of interest statement.
Thank you to Michelle Czerwonka, Kelvin Shaw and John Reid for reaching out with interest after the announcement at the last meeting.
Recent Events
The Rotary Boat Rally to Power Island was a success! About 40 Rotarians boated out to Power Island on July 11 for our Second Tuesday Social and our 8th almost-annual boat rally.  They were treated to a fantastic picnic spread, including grilled hot dogs courtesy of Oz and hot corn-on-the-cob from Tom Haase. Thanks to the boat captains who were willing to transport all of us to the island: President John Hall, Tom Haase, Patrick Lavis, Ken “Oz” Osborne, Anca Pop, Cindy Ruzak and Al Zielinski/Craig Witt. Thanks to the Social Events Committee for its planning for this special event. And a good time was had by all!
