Dale Chilcote started Happy Bucks by sharing he was happy to meet with 4 motivated individuals looking to join the club. Marlene added it was the 5th win for the Yukon Huskies and Al was happy to be out on his bike during the sunny weather.
Jon Randles is working with the American Red Cross to organize smoke alarm installations for members of our community. They really need more people for the follow-up day to actually install the detectors. If you're handy, please contact Jon Randles.
There are many tickets to be sold for the 2023 Rotary Gala and Miriam Owsley insisted it will be an awesome night to help raise money for Good Works. She'll be selling tickets before and after the meeting so get together and plan to celebrate 103 years of giving back.
Steve Wade remarked his time planning out programs for the Club has been wonderful and not that much work either, but he's gotten to meet and talk to many great people. He could use a partner who is interested in learning and one day taking over the committee.
Steve Wade introduced our program speakers from the Women's Resource Center, Jamie Bell, and Carl Mormann. April is Sexual Assault Awareness month for good reason, it's hard to talk about it, yet it's a common occurrence today. The WRC is there to support and protect victims and survivors through a 24/7 crisis line (800-554-4972) and several shelters. Operations are funded by the consignment shops and care is given to those who seek it. The individual is the expert on the situation and gets support in making safety and action plans. Domestic violence dramatically increased over the pandemic and it has not subsided. If you know someone who needs some help, please refer them to WRC.
One last reminder to get all your junk technology to the wonderful crew at eRecycling who will do pick-ups for just a $25 donation to our Club. Get your entire office together and clear out the old tech taking up space.

Social and Volunteer Opportunities
Marlene Bevan is going to be answering the phones for Interlochen Public Radio's upcoming Fundraising drive on Saturday, April 15 from 9 am - 1 pm. She needs about 3 more volunteers.
Must be comfortable chatting with strangers on the phone, and have computer skills enough to make an online payment and navigate a website. If you have never volunteered for Interlochen Center for the Arts before you will be required to submit an application and be reviewed (in keeping with our licensing as an educational facility).
Our exchange students are partaking in the CHS musical Into the Woods. The shows to see will be on April 21st and April 29th. More details to come.
The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help hang door surveys and install smoke detectors in community members' homes on April 22nd. Please reach out to Jon Randles if you're able to lend a helping hand.

Traverse City is hosting the District 6290 Outbound Conference on April 21st. We need homes for 16 kids for a night. They would need a place to sleep, breakfast in the morning, and then a ride to NMC. Please reach out to Carla Weaver if you'd like to be part of their Rotary send-off.
