President Mike Meindertsma began today's meeting by asking that we have a moment of Silence for the passing of Bob Hood's daughter, Saundra Hood.  He then mentioned there was a "lengthy" Rotary Board meeting held yesterday which exemplified the hard work and dedication of all the Board members.  President Meindertsma especially wanted to recognize former President Dale Chilcote for all the time and assistance he has put into the Club over the past three years, since he became President-elect to now as Past-President.  Like the Energizer-bunny, he keeps on giving. 

The invocation was given by Rev. Gary Hogue.  Music was provided by the "Kingsley Trio Plus Three".  Dr. Don Fraser introduced guests of Rotarians.  There were no visiting Rotarians.  The 50-50 was won by Sid Van Slyke.  The students of the week were both from the TBA Career Tech Center.  They were introduced by Autumn Soltysiak.  Keegan Ales is a senior at Traverse City West High School.  This is his second year at TBA.  He'd like to develop a career in Tech Programing.  Our second student was Ally Brooks.  She is also in her second year at TBA.  She is in the Graphic Art Design Program.  She intends to go to Ferris State University next year.  She'd like to develop a career in either Graphic Art Design or Art Education. 

We had two new Rotarians inducted into the Club this week.  Dale Chilcote sponsored New Member Andrew Warren.  Andrew is originally from Phoenix, Arizona.  He eventually attended and graduated from Adrian College with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Philosophy.  He was a member of the college's first RotorAct Club.  Welcome Andrew!  Marsha Smith sponsored Transferring Member Becky Ewing to the Club.  Becky joined the Sunrise Club in 2008, the same year she started working for Rotary Charities.  She's a graduate of Grand Valley State University and life-long Traverse City resident.  Is it fair to say she's Marsha's right hand? 

Greg Smith conducted the annual meeting of the members and the election of the Boards.  The  minutes were both read and approved for the previous meetings of Rotary Camps & Services and Rotary Charities.  Ballots were then handed out to each Rotarian to elect new Board Members to both Rotary Camps & Services and Rotary Charities.  We had seven highly qualified individuals running for both Boards.  While the votes were being tallied, Marsha Smith expanded on a previous talk she recently gave at the Traverse City Country Club regarding "Systems Thinking".  She used a video to help explain how Rotary Charities will now take a new approach to the Grant Making process.  It's a way to maximize program effectiveness.
