Greetings everyone,
I want to thank everyone for their kind words of recognition and gifts on Saturday night and at the club meeting Tuesday - Thanks Ramona for your thoughtful recognition. It was a privilege to have been the Chorus Music Director for the past 15 years. I look forward to 15 more years (good Lord!) with the Show, singing on the back row of the risers, if my voice holds out!
Singing is fun but singing well is more fun. Having fun singing has made The Rotary Chorus a real contribution to the value of The Show in our community. And there is another point here. Last night Joanie and I watched Bohemian Rhapsody and, ignoring all the other messages in the movie, the importance of family came through very strongly.
These are two lessons I take away from 15 years working to build the Rotary Show Chorus into a major contributor to the success and life of the Rotary Show, and our club's most significant fundraiser for the past 77 years.
It was a good run and we all learned a lot. I am proud to have been part of this fun and important adventure. Indeed, we do Rotary's work partly because it is important, but also because it is fun. There is no other payback. If it weren't fun we would go do something else, wouldn't we?
But the chorus is not alone in making our annual fundraiser successful. Every Rotarian in the club contributes their time, talent and treasure to move the needle just a little bit every year. This is the genius of our 77-year run.
