Get to know Andrew Kohlmann
Current occupation? Owner/Operator of Image360 Traverse City – we design, produce and install custom signage, graphics and displays for businesses and organizations across the state.
How long have you been a Rotarian? May of 2016.
What made you interested in joining Rotary? Allison Beers and Mike Meindertsma strong-armed me! Just kidding (kind of). Once they actually got me to a meeting and I was able to better understand the impact and connectedness the group has and makes to our region, it solidified my interest.
What do you love the most about rotary? The amount of impact Rotary has on the lives of others is amazing – from Traverse City to around the world. The camaraderie is uplifting and energizing.
What has been your favorite program or volunteer opportunity with Rotary to participate in? Stream Sampling (also known as the Bug Count!). I love the outdoors and little critters – and have a passion for doing what I can to preserve our natural resources for generations to come. A bonus: My young daughters really enjoy it – great bonding experience.
What keeps you with Rotary? The food! Just kidding. It all goes back to the social impact and bonds with members. There’s nothing like it.
What are you currently reading? Guide books to Costa Rica for my upcoming family vacation!
What is a fun fact about you? I’ve only had one other job in my life – unless babysitting counts – which was bagging groceries at Oleson’s when I was 15. From there, I got a job as a production worker with a little sign company called Signs Now back in 1996. I’ve been with the same company since. In 2008, my wife and I were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase the business and, since then, have experienced growth like we never expected. From 2 to 20 employees, 1400 sq. ft. to 10,000, a name change and lots of other milestones; TC Chamber Small Business of the Year 2017 and Top 50 Michigan Company to Watch to name a few. It’s been a wild ride.
